Overview

More Natural Artistic Effects - Now version 2.1!

ArtStudioPro Volume 2 features a revolutionary Oil Painting effect that will automatically turn your image into the look of richly painted brush strokes. Have fun creating an abstract look with a swath blend of brushstrokes or a pleasant landscape using smooth simplified ones.

Each style is easy to achieve by simply moving your brush stroke slide. No painting required! After choosing an effect, enhance your image with one of the support filters, to give your masterpiece definition and dimension.

Experiment by mixing different media for a customized style or choose Presets for instant results.

Effect Media

Oil Painting

will automatically turn your image into a painting with strokes characterized by indistinct outlines and small brushstrokes of different colors.  Increase the brush size to create an abstract work of art or decrease to give a pleasant look to simplified landscape. The popular look of Impressionism can also be achieved by adjusting the stroke length to a look of dabbled paint on canvas.

Oil Pastel

has characteristics of pastels and wax crayons combined. There are two distinct looks to the Oil Pastel effect. The first one is the look of Oil Pastel used in its “dry form”. To get this look turn down the strength and brush sliders; when done lightly, the results are similar to pastel chalks. By increasing the same sliders you get Oil Pastel in its “wet form” which is a heavy build up of color smoothed with a moistened brush. You can also achieve this look with “layering”, which is a common TwistingPixels technique. Layering is done by duplicating the oil pastel effect layer (found on the right in the layers palette) until you get the desired built up look. The surface is very important to this effect; try experimenting with different papers, then turn up the texture to add drama to the final painting.

Chalk

provides a velvety smooth, dry texture with brilliant, concentrated color. Start by increasing the chalk’s paint thickness slider to fill in the image. Then soften Chalk with Chalk Smudge to give an appearance of chalk rubbed with soft cotton. Use Chalk Outline to enhance the final details.

Charcoal

with its deep black hue, smooth marks, and uniform texture will create an elegant work of art. Charcoal doesn’t always have to be black; the color picker will allow color changes to create the look of different media.  Try changing the color to get white for conte, brown for sepia or red for a beautiful sanguine.

Finger Painting

creates the look of getting your hands into the paint, and moving it around. When this effect is finished the result is a spontaneous abstract or figurative painting that will reflect your personnel energy. This effect can be used on the entire image or become a great tool for creating backgrounds.
